The project
There are bits and pieces of Ecology / Environment related
programmes over Satellite and terrestrial TV channels relating to our need to
live in a more environmentally friendly way. We propose to produce content for a
complete Internet TV channel, substantial parts of which can be broadcast by a
thematic environmental TV channel and edited weekly episodes produced for
terrestrial TV channels and for archived downloads via the Internet. In our
project the participants will be smart people of mixed age groups with modern
ideas. We will cover the whole range of environmental subjects from day to day
living to wider political debates. Two examples:
1) The conversion of a fuel guzzling STRETCHED LIMOUSINE into an eco-friendly
people carrier.
2) Why build a nuclear power station to satisfy a 20%
increase in demand when it is far safer and more logical to
reduce
the demand by 20%. Hydrogen
batteries can propel you without choking the Planet.
If you look into our not so distant past we tended to live together in small groups for mutual benefit, security, work sharing and growing food etc. These hamlets later expanded into villages and towns, the towns became cities. Economies and life styles within these cities changed, the methods of construction changed and the original goals of mutual benefit were lost. Life in these cities has become expensive as everything has to be "imported". They have become stressful and unhealthy places in which to live, high pollution and difficult to govern. There are "no go" areas and a feeling of "every man for himself". To put these values back into cities is going to be difficult but as populations expand we need to look again at our past.
There are many ideals that have been swept aside as the tide of economy has washed over us. As the population expands the need for new housing grows, there is now the opportunity to combine the lessons of the past with the technologies of the future.
Communities can be self sustaining and less polluting, less stressful and healthier with shared goals and responsibilities.
We will show how this can be achieved practically and technically.
Lets take a step back ..... to the future.
In order to show how this and other technologies can be implemented in a living
and working environment, we will build a hamlet of up to 12 self sustaining
houses, whose inhabitants are experts in a diverse range of expertise. Their
work plans, discussions and implementation will be recorded on video. The video
output will be edited into a series of informative and educational TV
programmes.
10 acres in France (Nr Poitier) . Houses will be built in wood around the lake. An Iron Age thatched structure will also be constructed, using local experts, as a technology comparison and as reception center.
We aim to be 90% self sufficient in food and 110% in energy by the end of the 1st year. Minimum carbon emissions, renewable resources, no pollution. The hamlet will be self sustaining in power, heating, waste, water, alternative fuels and food.
These programmes will be available world wide so that others may be encouraged to use our research to improve their lives and surroundings.
